Libya State Talks About Super Eagle's Incident

Following the recent news regarding the Super Eagle’s experience in Libya for the Nigeria versus Libya match of the AFCON (Africa Cup Of Nation), the Libyan Football Federation has released an update on the status of the decision of the Super Eagle’s change of landing plan, they mention that they respect and will follow the decision.

The cause of this decision is related to the fear of being kicked out of the AFCON group, this is after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requested the country to present documents in regards to the cancellation of the AFCON qualifying Group D match against Nigeria.

Based on Libya Al-Ahrar Channel, Nasser Al-Suwaie, the Secretary-General of the Libyan Football Federation, made it known to the public in a special statement that CAF gave to both the Libya and Nigerian football associations until the 20th of October to submit the needed document to clarify the incident.

Al-Suwaie mentioned that the Libya FA has consulted and gotten in touch with a specialized lawyer to come up with the necessary evidence for the case.

He also mentioned that might be some trouble in the process within CAF, despite this, the Libya Federation’s position will remain strong.

In his statement, he made it clear that Libyan Federation took no part in the delay and change in the Plane’s landing to Al-Abraq Airport.

In his words, he emphasized that the decision was of the Libyan state alone and that the Country’s image must be upheld.

It was known that the Nigerian Super Eagles had returned to their country on Monday a day after the issue happened with news of their horrible encounter.

Patrick Pascal, the team manager shared his experience on how his team had to sleep on the bare floor after being abandoned at the airport.

In his words, he alleged that Libyan officials made the toilets unusable for the team without any support.
